trimming images

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

In the previous version of word it was possible to crop images in several different ways. I very often used the lasso tool that allowed the user to cut out one object from a picture that they wanted to include and discard the rest of the picture. I only see one cropping option on this new version. Where are the customized cropping options located?

Those tools are not available in the 2008 release.

You might want to consider obtaining a separate graphic editor if you don't
already have one. They provide even more functionality & versatility which
enable you render the image as you need it before inserting it into your
document. By minimizing the handling "after the fact" you'll have even
better results. There are a number of such programs available at a very
reasonable cost such as the very popular GraphicConverter:
