Tring to reinstall Office Pro 2000

J

jungle_rick

I had to reinstall Windows 98 Second Edition because some files messed up.
Specifically my network went screwy on me. So I wiped out what I had in the
Networking section of windows. I re-established the network okay. But I
found that my Ms Office 2000 Pro was bummed out. So I went to reinstall the
Pro and I keep getting an error message as follows:

ASYCFILT.DLL version is 2.40.4275.1, requires version 2.40.4277.1

I have tried everything I can think of. If it matters I have copies of,VB6,
Visual C and Visual J.

I would appreciate any help I can get to correct this problem.

Hi Rick,

Hmmm, that's generally an Office XP (2002) error when it references those versions of Asycfilt.dll
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301064/en-us?FR=1 during an Office setup. Do you have any Office XP or 2002 series apps listed in
the control panel in Add/Remove Programs? Other programs including the MS MDAC update and IE6 also have newer versions of that DLL.

Hmmmm, I think there are two things that I might be doing wrong. You are
correct but are some what wrong in what you say. You are correct when you say
that it is a MS Office XP/2002 or 3 problem. My "FrontPage" is a 2002
version, hence I must have the oanist.exe to install. I am going to see if I
have the file on my FrontPage 2002 CD disc. What I think I have to do is;
Re-install my original FrontPage 98, then re-insatll my "FrontPage 2002".
This is because my copy of "FrontPage 2002" is an upgrade and the upgrade
must be able to detect a qualifing copy of FrontPage. My first mistake is
that I was not think about the fact that it was an upgrade to "FrontPage
2002". Now if "FrontPage 2002" only has a copy of oaisnt.exe that I can
execute to put in the required DLL's and INF's I will be all set. So Mr.
Buckland you are correct that this is a 2002 application software problem
because my FrontPage is 2002, but my MS Office is a 2000 product. Thank you
Mr. BUskland you have put me on the right track of think. Gee isn't critical
thinking grand.

Mr. Buckland

I found the oanist.exe file in my "FrontPage 2002". I executed the
application and it did the trick. Unfortunately I have to re-install my old
FrontPage as a qualifing application. No big deal, I still have my old
"FrontPage 98" and "FrontPage 2000" (which is also an upgrade, they are just
plain cheaper, but a bigger pain in the but when things go wrong) if need be.
But I am still having problems with MS Office Pro 2000. I also still have my
old Office 97 disk (remember when it all fit on a single CD) and will try
that as well. Here is the message I am getting verbatim, "This patch package
could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can
access it or contact the application vendorto verify that this is a valid
Windows Installer patch package."
Further help would be greatly helpful, Rick.
