tring to start Microsoft Word 2000

When I try to start Microsoft Word 2000, you may receive
an error message similar to the following:

Winword caused an Invalid Page Fault in module winword.exe
microsoft said this behavior occur when the Normal.dot
template file is corrupted, and to resolve this behavior,
steps to Rename Normal.dot to Normal.old. But i was told
not to rename Normal.dot but to rename Winword.exe to
winword.old. WHAT IS THE DIFF. and WITCH ONE IS RIGHT?

Renaming winword.exe will totally disable Word and make it entirely
unusable. It's Normal.dot you need to rename. See
