Trouble adding Verizon dsl mail box yet MSN premium mail box adds

Installed Verizon DSL on our home computer today. Installation wnt fine, and
both Verizon.net and msn.com e-mails work in their application. Was able to
add msn.com e-mail to Outlook via Outlook connector and that worked fine.
Tried to add Verizon.net account and it will not work. It is supposed to add
as a POP3 account. Followed the various installation instructions with
authentication, etc., no go. Called Verizon, and since it works in their
application they suggest Microsoft. Also tried deleting msn.com acocunt and
adding verizon.net and that does not work either. Original e-mail works
fine. Any ideas?
