trouble importing JPEGs

V

Vikas

When I copy a JPEG file off the Internet and paste it
onto a Word document, I end up with a blank box. But if I
click it, the web site containing the picture is
displayed. If I save the file to My Documents, it does
not give a preview and I get an error message when I use
a JPEG filter to import it. I should not be having this
problem and in fact never used to. What should I do?

When you copy a picture off the Web, you're not copying the picture itself
but just a link to it, so if you're not connected to the Internet, you can't
see it. You can unlink the picture (thereby embedding it in your doc) by
pressing Ctrl+Shift+F9, but a better way is to right-click on the Web
graphic, choose Save Target As, and save the picture to your My Pictures
folder. Then use Insert | Picture | From File to insert it in your document.
That way, in case anything happens to the document, you still have the
picture stored externally.
