I have Office V.x. I have inatalled updates 10.1.2; 10.1.3; 10.1.4 and
10.1.5. Now PowerPoint and Excel close upon opening.
The fix is supposed to be going back and installing 10.1.1
When I attempt to install 10.1.1 on my hard drive, I get the following
messages "You cannont install this software on this disk" and "This
volume does not meet the requirements for this update".
What's up?
!0.1.2 IS 10.1.1. It's identical to 10.1.1, and all the apps and many of the
files are 10.1.1. It's just a better installer, and will update any previous
10.x version including 10.0.0 out of the box. (The 10.1.1 installer would
only update the original SR-1 - 10.1.0.)
But if you need to go back and fix a faulty installation you cannot install
10.1.2 over 10.1.5 - correct. You first have to uninstall, That's very easy
- on the Office v. X CD, you will find a Value Pack. In the Value Pack
Installer is "Remove Office". If you never installed that before, do it now.
It will put a Remove Office folder on your desktop, Within that is the
Remove Office app. Double-click it and it will trash Office and its various
preference files and folders. It will NOT touch your data, including
Entourage messages, etc. That's all left in place.
After running Remove Office, empty the trash. Then install Office v. X from
the CD (you'll need your Key Code from the CD sleeve too). Then apply the
Office 10.1.2 updater, then 10.1.4, then 10.1.5 That's it.
