I have Lenovo ThinkPad which apparently had a trial version of MS Office Pro
2007 installed. The IT office installed a second full version on the laptop
apparently without removing the trial version and shipped it off to me.
When I got it, I wanted to use Outlook but it was loaded so I went into the
control panel and used the ³Add or Remove Programs² to add outlook which
was already on the machine. After this, everything has been down hill. Now
the programs run but the MS installation program tries to run 4-5 times
during the application startup. I then went in and tried to remove the
trial version but that was only partially successful and returned an error
stating that the install (database) was corrupted, that it couldn¹t remove
it, and to use the install CDs to correct it. I took the laptop back to
some IT folks who tried to reinstall the MS Office Pro but the installation
failed. They tried several repairs but were unsuccessful and now they
insist that they need to slick the whole drive to fix the problem. The
installs won¹t execute, the program removal won¹t execute, software updates
won¹t execute, the repair routines don¹t appear to do anything to fix the
problem. Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem without
reloading the whole HDD? Is there anything I can do to remove the trial
version to get that out of the way and ensure it¹s not causing any
conflicts? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
