Trouble openind Document in Word

i cannot open a document i saved in Word. i keep getting
the error message that reads:

"the document name or path is not valid. try these
suggestions. check the file name for permissions to the
document or drive. use the file open dialog box to locate
the document."
(C:\ . . .\MyDocuments\discussion 9.doc)

on top of getting this message, every time i close word
and go back in, it appears to have resaved the document
again. I must have this document about 10 times now, yet i
can't get in it??

please help!

Hi Theresa,

How are you opening the files? If you are opening the files outside
the application (other than using File/Open) then it sounds like the
file association needs to be recreated.

Go to Start/Run and run the following:

winword /r

Note that there is a space before the forward slash.

If you are opening the document using File/Open then does this occur
with all documents or a specific document?

As for your second issue, it sounds like you may have accidentally
saved some text in your Normal.dot, the default template for "blank"
documents. Take a look at this article for the steps you need to take
to correct the problem:
