Trouble opening Office 2004 documents

We just did a upgrade from Office X to Office 2004. Users are having
problems opning documents when double-clicking on them.

Comment from User:

I am often unable to open documents by doubleclicking on them. (Not
always, but often. And only since everyone else got Word 2004.)

Any possible solutions? Has anyone seen this before?

What sort of "problems"? what happens instead? Question unanswerable as
asked.

If they mean double-clicking doesn't launch Word 2004, have them do a
Get Info on any Word document and set the Open With to Word 2004, and
click Change All.

As Daiya says, there isn't quite enoough detail to be sure, but other points
of information are the version of Mac OS X you're running & the type of Macs
(PPCs or Intels).

What happens if they attempt to open the same files from within Word rather
than double-clicking (File>Open)?

Are you sure you have applied all of the Apple and Microsoft updates to the
product?

Sorry: We'd love to help but you're just creating a guessing game if you do
not supply the version and level numbers of your software, both Word and the
Operating System.
