Trouble publishing our web page

S

Scott Wilson

I am using Publisher 2002 and web site is hosted by
Earthlink, using their "Total Access" software.

After designing the new web page, I have
selected: "File", "Save as Web Page" selected "desktop" as
file location and named the file.

When I tried to upload the html file to Earthlink and then
check it out through the regular internet browser, only
the first page comes up, without pictures or any
hyperlinks working.

Also noted, the Publisher file is 1.87mb, but the html
file that is created is only 185kb. I dont think the
entire eleven page website is being saved as a website.

I am not a computer genius, but I think I did everything
as prescribed.

Any thoughts?

Wasn't there a bunch of gif files? They need to be uploaded along with the
html file/s.

The issue of uploading supporting files and the issue of file sizes and much
more you need to know are covered at my site.
Visit www.davidbartosik.com and review at least the first 4 articles on the
2002 page and review the FAQ page. You would benefit a lot from going thru
my 2002 tutorial on the tutorials page.

I usually work with front page, which is a Microsoft product as well. (is
publisher a Microsoft product?)
On the Front Page when you first time use Front Page to create a website it
creates a folder in the MY Documents folder called My Webs. Whatever you
copy into My Webs will be uploaded to your web server whenever you choose to
publish your web. If you have been chosen desktop to copy your files because
it is more accessible for you (but your upload manager), it is better to
create a new folder on your desktop then on the Front Page choose "Open
Web..." and open the folder you just created. That folder is now consider as
a web area. Copy all files to that folder and then publish then.
I hope this instruction would help you!
