trouble saving files

When I try to save a file using a previously saved form that I use to report hours for payroll, Excel gives me the following message:Microsoft Exel cannot access the file 'Macintosh:Users:trh:Documents:TRH files:NETWORKS:ABC' (the directory path)
It will not save the file. I've tried to copy the worksheet to a new worksheet with a new name, but I get the same message & can not save. I'm using a new computer & so the files were copied from a previous older hard drive onto the Mac Pro internal drive. I've tried unlocking files, I've used the disk utility to repair permissions. What am I missing?

What is the file name? Does it open properly? Are you saying that you get
this message after the file opens, when you press the Save button (or use
File-Save)?

I get the message when I try to do a 'save as' os 'save' after filling in the form. I've been using this file for a long time with no problems. I have recently upgraded computers to a Mac Pro and copied the file from my old g4.

Figured it out!

Somehow my folder got locked in the transition to my new computer and none of the files in that folder could be modified. When I looked at 'get info' for the folder (within the finder) & changed everything back to 'read & write' I could then work with the files in that folder and everything is back to normal.
