trouble saving in Word

Upon creating a new document in Word 2002, or editing an existing document, I
am having trouble saving the file. I click the disk icon, or File/Save As .
.. . and nothing happens. Eventually (after several minutes) I get a message
that says "Saving the AutoRecovery file is postponed for Document1."

I am not having trouble saving in other programs (Excel, Notepad, Outlook,
etc.). It seems to be limited specifically to Word. Any suggestions?

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
