Trouble sharing project with iDisk and Public Folder

Greetings:

I have solved part of my problem (unable to send invites to share a
project with iDisk) in this now-closed thread:

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...q=cannot+invite+share&rnum=1#6f9b3b7ecedf19ec

However, now, I must endure the long hang-up times because I must mount
that Public Folder in order for the Project to synchronize (iDisk
helped eliminate that hang-up time). Isn't there a way to do this
within iDisk AND avoid mounting the Public Folder?

Well, more or less. I can manage to do that using other apps that manage
to work with WebDAV and sync the data both ways. Interarchy can do that
(with it's virtual disks).
So the "iDisk" is mounted on the desktop but all communication goes
through Interarchy which is tremendously faster than the Finder for
WebDAV.
I don't do this often though so I don;t remember all the detaiils of the
configuration,

Good news! We figured it out. On both ends, we are using iDisk. So it
takes awhile for everything to sync just right (and alot of iDisk
conflict errors that require one to choose the side with the most
recent modification date/time).

1. Share the project through the mounted dotmac public folder and give
about 5 minutes to sync (this will cause your computer to hang up for
awhile while it talks to the server). Do the usual thing, with setting
up a shared projects folder, but within the Public folder of the
mounted dotmac public folder (not iDisk). Then when it's done synching
in Entourage and the iDisk, quit Entourage (you might want to manually
start the iDisk synching once or twice after quitting to be safe).

2. Now unmount the mounted dotmac public folder (not the iDisk!).

3. Launch Entourage. When it asks you if it can connect to that shared
project, click "Cancel."

4. Go to the project and stop sharing it.

5. Go to File=Subscribe to a Project and navigate to the shared project
folder in the iDisk (not the dotmac public folder, which shouldn't be
mounted anyway. You will be asked if you want to "resubscribe" and some
other things.

6. From here, after a few syncs on both sides and everyone's iDisk,
things should be just fine. But make sure everyone sharing follows the
same procedure, one at a time.

Project sharing is really cool. MS has done a great job. But I look
forward to future enhancements in conjunction with Apple to improve the
iDisk interface.
