trouble/sloppines of SETATREFEXPR

I am developing some shapes that use setatrefexpr to allow the user to change
shape by dragging (using control points) or by custom properties.

I am having problems with selecting the shape. Specifically if I am
anywhere near the shape, it selects the shape. for example, assume the
shape is a square 10mm center at 50 mm X 50 mm on a page. I can be as far
as 100 mm away and click, and the shape gets selected.

Anybody has had this problem or some fix to available? Otherwsie I will end
up just using custom priorities

So since there is no comments on this post, should I assume that SETATREFEXPR
is sloppy by default and find another method to accomplish what I want to
accomplish?

SetAtRefExpr has nothing to do with the ability to select a shape. There is
something else going on. Usually there is some extraneous geometry or text
that extends beyond the alignment box of the shape.
