Trouble transfering Outlook .pst files

S

Stacey

I have tried to export my outlook 2002 files several times
to a new computer. After I create the exported files and
put them on a CD, I load them on the new computer. When I
do, I always get the error: File access is denied. You do
not have the permission required to access the file.

So I thought I'd try and re-load the same .pst files on
the computer I took them off of. But no luck, same error.

Any idea what's causing this?

First of all; don't export but just copy the original to a CD when Outlook
is closed. By exporting and importing the mail you'll loose the modified
dates of the messages and custom views and folders.

Second; Outlook needs read/write permissions to the pst-file. This means
you'll have to copy the pst-file from the CD back to the harddisk and make
sure the file isn't marked as "Read Only"
