Trouble upgrading from Office X to Office 2004

I can't upgrade from Office X to Office 2004. I have a G4 running OS
10.4.10, with 15GB of free space. Office X resides on an external HD,
not in my Application folder. The set up assistant starts but quits
after just a few seconds with a long, involved error report.

I moved Office X from the external HD to my Applications folder and
then ran the set up assistant. No luck.

I tried dragging the Office 2004 folder from the CD to my Applications
folder and then starting up Excel 2004 with the same result.

Any ideas on how to get the upgrade to work?

BTW my computer has a second internal HD running OS 10.3.9. Using this
as the Startup Disk with Office X on the External HD, the set up
assistant works fine. I didn't complete the upgrade since I never use
this drive and didn't want to inadvertently create a new problem.

Try reapplying the QuickTime update:

Thanks for the tip. While the link was for an Intel mac & I've got a
G4 PPC, I followed the directions anyway.
I reapplyed the 10.4.10 combo update, prebinding, and the Quicktime
7.2 update. I even went thru the daily, weekly, & monthly maintenance
routines.
None of this worked.

I finally solved the problem by updating office on the OS 10.3.9
startup disk. Then, using Tiger's Migration Assistant, I brought
Office 2004 to the 10.4.10 disk where its working perfectly.

Thanks for the feedback -- it's good to know!
