Trouble using autocorrect for inserting symbol

M

Michal

I need to insert a right facing-arrow frequently in my notes. In Word, I just
type "-->" and it's autocorrected to be the right-facing arrow symbol. When I
try to the same thing up in OneNote's autocorrect, I type "-->" in the
Replace window. I then paste the arrow symbol in the With window, but instead
of the arrow, I get "à". Any suggestions?

I then paste the arrow symbol in the With window, but instead of the arrow, I get "à".

Try pasting the Right-sided arrow, by copying it from MS-Word (and not from Notes). It's working.

BTW, I'll still have to investigate why it's behaving the other way in your case.

Thanks,
Prasad.

Your suggested work-around worked perfectly. Thanks for the help!

I have found that for this to work, the symbol, while in Word, must be in
Symbol font before you copy it.

I already had it in AutoCorrect in Word, but in Word, for some reason,
even though the character technically is in Symbol font, selecting it
once it was on the page showed the font as Georgia (my default). When I
copied /that/ into OneNote, I got a Wingdings character. But when I
selected the character in Word and set it to Symbol font and /then/
copied it to OneNote, it worked fine.
