Trouble w/ transfer of ON files to new PC

I recently moved to a new desktop PC. In moving the software and data from my
old desktop PC, I tried to find a single notebook file that contained all of
my data, but could only find a group of files with the extension ".one" each
one of which was associated with a section.

I moved those files to the new PC and was able to open them in ON, but I'm
having several difficulties:

1) I can't figure out how to open the notebook rather than the individual
section files. No files are displayed when I use the menu File/Open/Notebook

2) A page in one of my sections has disappeared. It was present in the
installation of ON on my old PC. I can understand failing to transfer an
entire section (which did not happen), but I can't fathom how one page
disappeared.

I'm using Office 2007 and Windows XP. On the old desktop PC I used Office
2003 except for ON which was 2007.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

All notebooks are stored in the directory/folder "OneNote Notebooks" (by
default in "My Documents").
They appear as subdirectories with the name of the notebooks.
Below this level there may be other subdirectories with the name of
"Section Groups" (if the notebooks holds "section groups").
Each section of a notebook appears as a ".one" file. The pages are
contained therein.
I moved those files to the new PC and was able to open them in ON,
but I'm having several difficulties:

1) I can't figure out how to open the notebook rather than the

Normally one opens the notebooks via the "File| Open | Notebook" dialog.

There's situations, however, where the selection does not work and in
the dialog the next subdirectory is opened. I can not say how and why
and since when this happens on my computer. {grrrrhhh}.
But that's is not really a problem. Just use the Windows Explorer,
highlight the respective Notebook folder and from the right-click
context-menu select "Open as Notebook in OneNote".
This works on my - obviously haunted - system.
2) A page in one of my sections has disappeared. It was present in
the installation of ON on my old PC. I can understand failing to
transfer an entire section (which did not happen), but I can't
fathom how one page disappeared.

Normally this does not happen and can not happen as individual *pages*
are not stored separately.
Pages are just stored inside the files holding the sections.

Could it be that the page in question had been created/edited while you
were working with ON in the "offline" mode and by this it was not
synched to file for the section?

In order to find the page in question you might try a restore from the
corresponding backup-file.
Check for the backups on the old computer and open the backup-file for
the section in question.
