Trouble with Adobe pdf maker

In brief: Anyone know how to uninstall Adobe Acrobat and cleanly remove the
macros it installed in Word so I don't get errors when opening and closing
Word?

In detail: The macro in Word XP stopped working correctly (froze in mid-pdf
file creation), so I attempted to uninstall Adobe Acrobat, which went fine.
However, when I either open or close Word, I get an error that says "Compile
Error in Hidden Module: Autoexec" I get an error when opening Excel saying
"Compile Error in hidden module: AutoexecNew", and when closing I get
"Compile Error in hidden module: DistMon" Interestingly, I don't get an
error from Powerpoint or Frontpage. I looked for help from Office on the
issue, and it gave some pretty lame advice:

Compile error in hidden module: <module name>
A protected module can't be displayed. This error has the following cause
and solution:
There is a compilation error in the code of the specified module, but it
can't be displayed because the project is protected.
Unprotect the project, and then run the code again to view the error.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to unprotect a project.

I also looked at the macros in Word, and found 2 to refer to PDF writer, but
the "delete" button is greyed out, so I can't get rid of them. And the
"edit" button is greyed out for everything as well.
