trouble with columns in tables

K

Karen Sigel

I'm having trouble with tables. Cells in several rows in
a table I work with on a regular basis are slightly
different than the same cells in the adjacent rows. Put
another way, the columns are slightly different widths.
The result is that the columns appear misaligned, usually
just by an eighth of an inch or so (just enough so it's
noticeable and looks sloppy). I've tried every table
formatting option I can think of, from specifying and un-
specifying the column/cell width, to moving the column
markers on the ruler, to dragging them in the table (that
last one *really* screwed things up), to..

The rows that are affected have sometimes, but not always,
been pasted from another table.

Thanks-
Karen

Hi Karen,

If you hold down the Alt key while you try to drag the borders you will have
more control and it can still be difficult to get them exactly right.
Setting the zoom ratio to 500% makes it easier as well. Sometimes though
it's easier just to insert another row with the correct spacing and then
move the contents into the new row and delete the old one.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a consulting basis.

Hope this helps
