Trouble with copy/paste from Entourage

M

Mark Watts

Hi all

I have a user who, when copying and pasting from an email message in
Entourage to a Word document, isn't happy with the formatting after
pasting. Specifically, she does not want the "soft returns", or the arrow
thingys (for lack of a better term...what ARE those called?), but would like it
just to flow as text. We've looked at paste special, etc, but not found a way
to leave those off. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Mark

Hi Mark,

There are ways to remove these annoyances using Find & Replace (and I'm sure
someone else will provide the details) but if you don't mind paying for a
great piece of shareware ($19.95), consider textSoap. It "scrubs" away
unwanted formatting. I've been using it for years and wouldn't be without
it. You'll find info here: <http://www.unmarked.com/html/index.php>

Hi Mark:

Yeah, I just put in a bug on that.

What you *can* do is first edit the text in Entourage into Plain Text, then
Paste, then use Word's AutoFormat command to re-wrap it when it gets there.

The hard carriage returns are a creation of the paste from HTML process, and
bloody annoying :)

Cheers
