trouble with graphics from Canvas

Ever since I've upgraded to Word X for Mac, I've been unable to handle
graphics from Canvas. I do a lot of text + graphics, which I have
become accustomed to doing by pasting Canvas graphics into Word files.
This all worked fine with Canvas 7 and Word 98. But with Word X and
Canvas 9, it's all wacky. Word takes the Canvas graphics and displays
either a sloppy, unsmoothed version (when copied as vector objects in
Canvas) or only a pixelated bitmapped image, the size of which varies
with the resolution chosen in Canvas (when copied as image in Canvas).
It's as if Word is choosing a bitmapped thumbnail, rather than the
real graphic, to insert. None of the Canvas folks seem to respond to
queries about this, so I wonder it it's a problem with Word X. I have
all the latest upgrades for Mac OS, Word, and Canvas--but the problem
persists. Does anyone know of a fix? I'm getting tired of doing all
my important work with the old versions of Word and Canvas, but until
I can handle graphics + text, that's where I'm stuck.

I know in a previous word processing program I have used, the program
attempted to save system resources by not displaying the inserted images in
full resolution. When I went to print preview however, the image quality
was restored....May this be the problem?

I tried that. It didn't help. The problem shows up no matter how I
try to display it. It also shows up importing graphics into
Powerpoint. I am puzzled.

I have never had a problem with inserting graphics into Word, even complex
ones. Maybe you might want to export the graphics from Canvas into another
format, which works better with Word, I have used bmp's and jpeg's and
whatever format Appleworks uses..

thanks,

Good idea. On the other hand, I've never had trouble importing
directly from Canvas until I switched to OS X and Word X. This seems
to be a glitch that is specific to this combination. Saving
everything as jpg's will be tedious, but probably will do it.
