trouble with hyperlinks, Pub 2000

Joanne

I have an older version of Pub. 2000

I am wanting to add a text hyperlink but cannot.

The helps menu tells me the following~
*On the Insert menu, click Hyperlink.
*Under Create a hyperlink to, click the type of hyperlink you want.
*Under Hyperlink information, specify an address or page for the hyperlink.

However, under the insert menu there is no "hyperlink" option.
I do not have the additional disc that came with the program either.

Is there anyway to do this manually?

Thanks for all

Joanne

Adding to David's solution:

If you want the publication to be read by others and have an active link you
could create a pdf of the Pub file and then edit it to add the link. This
can be done with PDF-Viewer Pro and maybe other PDF viewers. PDF-Viewer Pro
costs ~$40 but has many excellent added features to a PDF viewer.

You can give it a try: http://www.docu-track.com/downloads/users/

Thank you Don and Dave,
actually the plan is to convert this article to a PDF once it is done.
I had found some free PDF converters online and was going to give one of
them a shot.

What would be the best order to do this?
Save as a webpage, make changes then make into a PDF?
or make into a PDF and make the links?

Can I edit a PDF in publisher?

Thanks again

The insert > hyperlink option will not appear unless you are working with a
web publication. Go to file > create website from current publication.

To avoid buying an advanced PDF viewer program, you could create a pdf file
with active links by,

Create the file in Publisher, Save as a website. Next edit the pub file by
creating the links; when satisfied the file is complete, resave.
Now save the updated pub file as a pdf file using a pdf program (many folks
here like primopdf - it's free) www.primopdf.com

The pdf file created should have active links.

Hi Don,

I use primopdf.com and the hyperlinks do not survive the conversion with it
I am afraid. The Office 2007 and Publisher 2007 pdf add-in from MSFT does
allow the link to survive the conversion. I don't know about any of the
other free pdf tools.

No biggy. I just had noticed that you had guessed about this several times
and thought I would set the record straight as I use primopdf as my primary
pdf maker. And I could be wrong as I haven't installed the most recent
version...
