trouble with installing Office 2007

Annemarie

Hi everybody,

I want to istall my newly bought office 2007 on my newly bought vista
running laptop. However, i cant even get to the point where i have to enter
my registration code. It says it can´t continue the instalment because some
files are missing / or something like that. I think it has something to do
with the activation assistant already installed on my computer, because this
program wont work at all and I cant uninstall it. Not even after I have
succesfully installed a office trial version, a remedy suggested on the net.
Here are all the error messages I get, I hope someone can help me!

I'm from the Netherlands and the error messages are in Dutch.
So the following error messages I get are translated.

When I want to install Office from the dvd, I dubbelclick on setup.exe on
the disk. It says / translation/ the header reads ´instalation error´, the
message reads ´The instalation cannot proceed because a required file is not
available or is damaged. Start setup again from the original instalationcd or
downloadlocation´.

Plus, I´m performing this istalation from the original dvd (weird), and this
error
comes up almost immediatly.

So, sofar my experience with the instalation of my bought office version.

Next, my trouble with the activation assistant. When I want to uninstall, I
go the screen in which you can configure settings, like the internet
settings, the printers and so on (don´t know the english word though). I
click on the icon which translates as program´s and parts. There, I find a
list of all the software installed, which you can remove or recover. When I
want to remove the activation assistant, I get an error pop/up which is
actually in English, the message is from InstallAware Wizerd, and it says /
´setup resource not found´.

So far the uninstall message, next the message when i actually click on the
icon and want to run it. The header reads ´error in the script for internet
explorer´ / and the message reads ´there has been a mistake in the script of
this page.´ then it defines the error/ ´line 43, sign 2, the error
´undefined´ is empty or isn´t a object, code 0, the url
file:///C:/Program%20Files/Activation%20Assistant%20for%20the%202007%20Microsoft%20ffice%20suites/ota.hta´
then it asks: do you want to continue to run scripts on this page? and you
get to pick yes or no. When I press yes, nothing happens/the screen stays
black. when i press no, the same thing happens, so nothing at all happens as
far as i can see. It doesn´t hang or anything, it just doesn´t do anything at
all.

Because I looked around on the web, I found that other people also had
trouble with the activation assistant. They mentioned that the trouble is
because of the retrival of the product key, which makes the assistant acting
weird. So, I tried the remedy they suggested: to instal a trial version of
office, and then trying to unistall the assistant. I also hoped that the
installation of a trial version would fix the ´missing item´ that my official
cd mentioned.

So far, this version of Office has functioned adequatly, so far as i can
see. Which is fine with me, but I want to use my own version!

Ok, I hope that someone can help me because I'm startingto get desparate!
Thanks very much for helping me,

Annemarie

I should add that you have to go back to the original settings in sysconfig
to be able to start word.
