Hallo,
After years of slogging along with an age old laptop (Windows XP and MS
Office xp Professional) I bought two new computers running Vista Home
Premium and one (Asus netbook) running XP. Result: netbook can use the same
Outlook settings as previously and everything is OK, but the other two (i.e.
with Vista), using the same Outlook settings as in the XP
machine will let me send Emails to myself but absolutely refuse to send
mails to anywhere.
When I go into Tools Options Email accounts and set up exactly the same
parameters as previously (including ticking Remember Password). The Test
Account settings runs to completion and I can send and
receive mails. If I then close down Outlook and restart it, the password has
been removed and, of course, nothing works anymore. When I re-enter it,
everything is OK until the next shutdown and restart.
I assume that this has something to do with Vista's famous security quirks.
How can I get it to really "remember the password"?
Regards,
Gordon Filby
