Trouble with page numbers in Mac X

PaulT

Hi fellow gurus

I'm having some trouble printing a manuscript in Word Mac X that was
originally formatted in Word 98. The main problem is that while I can
see the page numbers they will not print. They do not show up in print
preview either. Everything printed OK with Word 98. If you have
suggestions PLEASE let me have them.
Thanks

The first thing that comes to mind is a printer issue. Could they be below
the printable margin of your printer? Perhaps they were created on a
printer that had different margins. This might explain why the print
preview does not show them.

One problem with this theory, however... It seems that Word will tell you
when this is the case--at least I'm encountered it before. But perhaps it
has to do with the older version.

Let us know.

Mark:

You're right, and you know it. Word X renders with a new version of
QuickDraw. The font metrics are slightly changed. It also uses a different
printer driver: the page impression is slightly changed.

Paul: Reset the bottom margin of the document to be at least one inch from
the edge of the paper, then re-set the Footer position to be at least half
an inch from the edge of the paper, then check that your page number is
actually IN the footer and not expressed as a floating text box.

Then check your document: the page turnovers will now be different. You
need to do this for most long documents moving from one version of Word/OS
to another. But you only have to do it "once" :)

Cheers
