We are having troubles with assigning tasks and meeting requests with some of our users. Same issue with both. When some of our users receive a task assignment or meeting request, they do not see the Accept/Decline buttons when the open the email, but instead there is an attachement to the email, which, when opened, is another copy of the email. One suggestion was to task assignments and meeting requests only in Rich Text Format. Tried this, but no help. One of the users having this difficulty is not on our Exchange Server, which could be the issue, although I've used this feature extensively working on a computer that was standalone and sending to a computer that was the same. So, I do know that the feature CAN work between computers that are not on the same network.
Another interesting experiment I did to check out the Rich Text versus HTML issue
I sent both task assignements and meeting requests to the user I mentioned about (who is not on our network) using HTML, Rich Text Format and Plain Text format. None of them had the functionality (i.e., Accept/Decline buttons, etc.).
BUT, when I repeated this procedure the other way around--sending task requests and meeting assignments in all three formats from her computer to mine (which is on Exchange Server), ALL of them had full functionality, with Accept/Decline buttons. When I clicked the Accept buttons, the meetings and tasks appeared in my calendar and task lists, as designed. So much for having to use Rich Text Format for this feature to work?
Any insights on what conditions cause these features not to work?
Thanks
