troubles with opening files in word

Greetings I have a problem when trying to open any word file. Here is the
error message I get opening it through explorer:

Cannot find the file 'path\word.doc' (or one of its components). Make sure
the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are
available.

Here is the message I get when opening through outlook (I get the message
multiple times with different locations marked at the end in brakets):
The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions: *check the
file permissions for the document or drive. *Use the file open dialog box to
locate the document. (C:\location of doc.doc) and (settings\user name\local)
and (settings\temporary) and (files\olk6\ta_iecti)

if I right mouse click in explorer on the Word document and select "Open
with... Microsoft Word for Windows, the file opens up fine.

I also tried this command : winword /r to fix the problem.

When trying to uninstall word:
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform path are
valid.

Any ideas how to fix this? I dont necessarely want to uninstall word, I want
to make it work correctly.

It is windows 2000, word 2000

Do I input the code in any word doc? If so, then that Macro will aply to all
other word related documents I try to open?

Thank you.

First, you need to determine if the listed "cause" applies to
your situation. If it does, then add the OnTime code to the
template that contains the wait code.

Thank you very so far for your help, it seems like the listed cause does not
apply to our situation, we do not have a normal.dot that contains an autoexec
macro.

Any other ideas?

Thank you.
