troubleshoot external references

I'm trying to link to data in another spreadsheet. The problem is source
data runs from d8:d25 but i want to display it in my other spreadsheet from
d17:d34 (give or take) but if I try to paste special/transpose it will not
allow me to do a link. If i try to paste one cell and drag to the right
using a mixed reference in the first cell it does not work. Any suggestions?

Not sure why you are using transpose? Copy the data in D825 and then go
to your other sheet and select Range D1734, they're the same size and
select Paste special...>Paste link (button)

If you have an early version of Excel then try naming the original range
(Insert>Name>Define), highlight a same size range on the other sheet and
type

=RangeName

and either press Ctrl+Shift + Enter or enter =RangeName in the first cell
and drag it down the same number of cells and it will link to the other
range.
