troubleshooting envelopes and labels

When i click on tools & then envelope and labels, (word 2003) nothing happens.
the word program just freezes up - and i need to ctrl+alt+del
i sent in an error report which advises i should download some sort of "fix"
- however when i attempted to do that i got another error message telling me
it was "unsuccessful"

mess the crashes have created.
From the Word Help menu, select detect and repair (you may need the
Word/Office installation disc).

relation to renaming normal.dot, deleting the data key in the registry.
Reinstall the printer driver (preferably the latest version).
