Troubleshooting Mail related problems

MNA

Hi,
No user in the network is able to get the notification from project server
2003. I have set the properties from SMTP server and port. Can anyone please
tell how to troubleshoot this in project server 2003 as there is nothing in
event log.

Thanks in advance.

If you're certain you set the mail notifications information correctly, then
look at the SMTP server you're pointing to. Most likely, it's rejecting the
messages for relay. Most mail systems require that mail relay be allowed for
specific IP addresses or clients.

I too am having problems with notifications on just one site on an existing
Production Project Server box created wtih EditSite utility. Please see info
below and respond as you see fit...thanks!

I am working with a client who has created new site using the EditSite
utility. All
functionality seems to work fine, including the publishing of assignments
and the updating of the data in the DB appropriately. However, the OLD site
sends notifications successfully but the NEW site does not. Both of the
sites are setup to use the EXACT same SMTP Mail Server [mail.domain.com],
Port = 25, From Address = (e-mail address removed), and Company email address =
domain.com.

All XML files drop into then ViewDrop folder properly, are picked up,
processed, and successfully removed. However, only notifications from the
old site are sent
accordingly. I do not know if the mail traffic ever actually gets to the
exchange server from the new site or not.

One last note...the Views Notification Service is EXTREMELY SLOW when
stopping and until today, when the service was stopped/restarted, the
publishing from the NEW site was not working successfully. Any help would
be GREATLY appreciated!

Are both sites on the same server?
