true type fonts displaying weirdly/incorrectly

When i use the Arial font in powerpoint the text shifts up. To select it i
actually have to click underneath it. This means the text appears to be
outside of the text box. I can save the file, and open it on someone else's
computer, or even upload it to windows live and the problem is not there. I
have a screenshot of the issue, but can't figure out how to attach it to this
question. The issue doesn't happen in any other office program. any ideas
about how to correct this are greatly appreciated!!!

It is PPT 2007. I have saved in older formats, and the new format. it runs
fine on other computers, even other versions of office.

I thought that might be the case. The issue is your printer driver.

You're very welcome. This one frustrates us (us being the MVPs)
tremendously, because why would anyone suspect a printer driver for this
kind of issue?!

I have a follow up on this. It does fix the text appearing off kilter...but
if i take the test printer off of being the default, the problem reappears.
But I don't want to mess with having a default printer that doesn't exist. Is
there a different workaround that enables me to keep my real printer as a
default (we have network printers so there's nothing i can change there)

It is something that's an isolated issue with only some of our computers,
but it's very annoying to constantly work around.

thanks

I did that. I installed the printer driver local. and set the 'test' printer
as the default. and it fixed the issue. But as soon as i take that fake
printer off of being the default, power point reverts to shifting the text up.

Which is a bit inconvenient whenever i need to print something else to have
to change the default printer to a real one.

Any ideas would be welcome. It's a bit of a pain to basically have whole
computers that you can't use powerpoint on.

thanks

If you have network printers, it may be that the drivers are installed on the
network instead of locally on your PC. That's very convenient for the IT folks,
but some of the Office apps don't work well that way.

Try installing the driver for the networked printer locally, on your own PC. It
can still be redirected to print to the networked printer.

More "how-to" on that here:
