Truncated narration

When I record narrations (using the internal mic) in PowerPoint X. (10.1.4
updated) on a PowerBook running OS X (10.2.6), the narration seems to be
randomly truncated on most slides. Narration may stop recording on a given
slide after 10 seconds, record the narration again and the same slide might
stop recording after a few minutes, do it again and it may work fine.

Power management settings are set long, much longer than any given slide.

It happens regardless of whether the narration is linked or not.

Anyone seen this or have a solution?

Hi

There could be a few causes of this. My first wonder is whether or not the
processor is just not able to keep up with everything. Can you record voice
OK outside of PowerPoint?

Hi Jim

Thanks for the reply. While I haven't tried to record voice outside
PowerPoint (and I don't have the machine that I use with me right now), I
don't think the processor should be the problem. I'm using a brand new
out-of-the-box PowerBook with a 1 gig processor and 512 MB RAM.

I just got this machine explicitly for recording these narrations. It
worked fine at first so I assumed that perhaps the machine that I had first
been using (a slightly older PowerBook) had some sort of software conflict
on it. BUT, once I plugged into the projector that I use, it started
truncating just like the other machine did and has continued to do so
despite a reboot.

Very strange.

I would certainly appreciate any help you might be able to offer.
