truncated text with linked oracle8 table

I'm linking to oracle8 tables with a field I believe is
to be LONG data type in oracle. When I query with Access
2000 the field is truncated (looks like 255 characters).
The link query use to work however it started truncating
a few months ago. Maybe one of the service patches or who
knows.... Is there any way to resolve this?

I have tried pass-thru and appending to a memo field
without luck. The only way I can get it out is to export
the linked table to a txt file and then link it back in.
Not a very useful process for a 'linked' table.....

Any clue?
