Truncation of Exported Memo Fields

Is there a workaround to the truncation of memo fields to
255 char when exporting queries or reports. The
truncation apparently occurs when "Publishing It with MS
Word" or "Merging It with MS Word" also. Also truncates
when exporting to Excel and csv files.
