Try again: Accepting only part of recurring meeting

I received an invitation to a series of weekly 2-hour meetings. My part is
only in the second hour. I want my calendar to show that I'm available
during the first hour for other invitations.

If I accept it, my calendar blocks off 2 hours. If I accept it and then
change it to 1 hour, it only does this for one occurance at a time and
disconnects my event from the organizer's.

Can this be done?

We're on Outlook 2000.

It can be done, but with the consequences you've already described.
