Trying to add a VAT field in a expense report

Hi,

I'm new here and I wondered if anyone could help me with adding a VAT field
into a expense report. The idea is based on a templates that is available via
MS.

I'm trying to add a separate VAT amount into each line of the expense sheet
(amount + VATamount = line total). Though, as soon as I test it, the first
line goes okay (formula-wise). As soon as a new line is added under the
existing line/table, Infopath automatically takes over the amount that was
filled-in in the above "amount" box. The VAT of this line (I can still fill
this field) becomes counted up to the amount that is taken over from the line
above, resulting in a line total of (amount line 1 + VATamount line 2 = line
total line 2)........

I appologize in advance to anybody who feels I'm an absolute
beginner,....because,...YES, I AM!! As a matter of fact I have another
problem as well; I'm from Holland, my software is also in Dutch.....

I would very much appreciate it if anybody who thinks is able to help me,
contacts me @ (e-mail address removed).....as I'm pretty desperate to get
it fixed. I'll definatelly explain you why as soon as you respond!!!

Best regards from Shanghai,

Edward

Hello

Open your Expense report in the design mode
Go to to data source and add a VAT elemnet and drag that field into the form
Add a function to sum up the VAT and amount

Hi,

Thanks for your reaction BTW!
Basically, I already did what you said below. This (horizontal) is not the
problem.
The problem comes when I add a new line to the expense report.
As soon as the new line appears under the existing line(s), it automatically
takes over the value filled in at the "amount" field from the above line at
the "Total" of the second line.......
What should I do to leave the "total" field of any added line empty??
If you think it's better for you to see the form, I can mail it to
you....pls let me know!

Many thanks already for your reply, I really appreciate this community!!

Hello

I did the same thing and I dont see the issue when I add a new line. Do you
have any default value to the field?

Hi,

THANK YOU SO MUCH,.....apparently there must have been a default to the
field that I just looked over! Blinded by the from I guess,....I'm certainly
not a pro as you probably discovered already.... :-(
Maybe this forum helps to become one....

Thanks and keep on blogging here, this is perfect!
