Exhell
Some one sent me an Excel spreadsheet that used to work, but now freezes up
with "connecting to database". They are able to run other similar
spreadsheets. Is there any way to see what the underlying data source is
that's attached to this .xls file? Is there any way to see what files the
spreadsheet opens? Is there any way to see the underlying SQL code? In
other words, is there anyway to view the PROPERTIES of this Excel file? When
I set up a "File DSN" of what I believe to be the one associated with the
spreadsheet, and make sure the appropriate files are where it points, I get
an "Invalid table name." error when I try to refresh the spreadsheet. So
it's impossible to try to figure out what problem this person is having with
this spreadsheet, because it triggers NEW problems when I try to run it. NEW
vague error messages which are impossible to find the underlying causes of.
Why can't I take a person's spreadsheet, point to my own data source, and
refresh it without some sort of problem?
