trying to delete an autofill address and am not able to do so

KevOE Hig

I have an autofill address that I just can't get rid off (it is the only one
that I have noticed).

My friend no longer works at that company and it was a bad experience for
her and now it is becoming one for me!

I have Windows XP with Office XP installed on my D: drive with the *.pst
file located in a data folder on my C: drive.

The autofill only shows the wrong address, it does not show the desired
addresss even though both are listed as her name (gigi).

Things that I have tried to get rid of this (ghost) autofill address
include:
1.. hitting the delete key after typing the first 3 letters of her name -
that does not work.
2.. searched both drives for *.NK2 files - could not find one
3.. the wrong address is deleted from my contacts list/folder
4.. I removed my *.pst file and re-installed
5.. searched for *.pab files - don't have any on either drive
6.. read through http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
7.. Googled for answers elsewhere
I am spending way more time on this than it is worth, but it is driving me
nuts in a small-medium way. I don't having creepy things on my PC that I
don't understand.

TIA,

Kevin

Try the following steps.

1. Manually type in her full new address in an email and send the email.
2. Now attempt to type in the first three letters and you should see two
choices, the right one and the wrong one.
3. Use the arrow keys to select the wrong one and hit delete.

Also, when searching for NK2 files, make sure that yu're searching for
hidden and system files as well.

Make certain that you turn on Advanced Search Functions and check Hidden and
System files.

Next, search for the file name *.nk2.

The NK2 file is named as follows: <MS Outlook User Profile Name>.NK2.
Further, it is found in your Documents and Setting Folder.
(Make certain that in your Folder settings, you can view hidden and system
folders.)

Here's where you can look:

Docs and Settings\Your login user name\applications\Microsoft\Outlook.

For a utility that will let you open and edit the NK2 file, go to
www.dcs-imaging.com/products.htm.
