Trying to delete an "=" in a field is there is an "=" at the end of the field

pretty self explanatory I guess. Yeah, I just want to return the valu
of a text field with the "=" sign stripped off if there is an "=" sig
at the end of the field. Any ideas? I've done the RIGHT('cell ref',1
and then an IF statement, but that won't actually delete anything
