Trying to format a textbox crashes Word 2000

Whenever I try to format a textbox in Word 2000 (9.0.8944 SP-3), Word will
stop responding or immediately close. It does this even after rebooting then
opening a new blank document. FYI- I recently downloaded updates for Office
which included Word updates. The installation of the Word updates got
interupted several times.

Any suggestions?
