I am a true novice and have develop a very simple database for mylist of
volunteers however I cannot seem to get all the data on one page. There seems
to be enough space to merge all columns but I don't know where to go to
change the page break or whatever it's called to get everything on one page.

First, are you building a report? I assume that you are tring to print your
data. Secondly, what data do you have? What are your fields? How many
records? Third, what do you want the output to look like?

Give us some details here.

The answer to your question (as posted) would be: "Use a smaller font!" I'm
sure you want more details than that.

Yes I'm building a database of volunteers. I have name, address, city, state,
zip, phone and then notes (such as: piano player, fundraiser, etc....). It's
the last part that is on a second page. When I print the report out it there
is plenty of room on the first page for this last column but it is on a
separate 2nd page. I cannot find the icon that that annoying little ACCESS
office "helper" told me to use for sorting and grouping in design view....not
sure why. It just seems that I need to move the last column like a page
break but I can't find a way to do that.I'm used to Word or Publisher but am
not competent in Excel or Access....am trying to learn on my own as my
company will not pay for instruction. I refuse to try to piece together a
address list on Word!! I'd like to get into the 21st century!!! If you know
what I mean. I am one of the few people in my office that even knows how to
do anything beyond typing a letter in Word so there is no help here.
I tried reducing the size of the report to see if that helped but that
wasn't the way to go. I appreciate any help you can give and be gentle....I
really only know enough to be dangerous!!

Well, you could put this field on the second line (below the name) or you
could change your page set up to landscape.

The key here is to make sure that your report fits on your page. If you
have your page setup as 8 1/2 by 11 with 1 inch margins on the right and
left, then your report can only be 6 1/6 inches wide. When you are in
design view, what is the width of your report? If it is wider than your
paper (including margins) then it will force data onto a second page.

Generally, if you use the report wizard to create the report, you will not
run into this isse.

hope that helps.

Thanks for your help. Next time I'm going to use the wizard. for right now I
deleted a field I didn't need, reduced the font by one point and changed the
margins. It's all on one page. Not crazy how it looks but it's fine for what
I want right now. Thanks for your help.
