The key here is to make sure that your report fits on your page. If you have your page setup as 8 1/2 by 11 with 1 inch margins on the right and left, then your report can only be 6 1/6 inches wide. When you are in design view, what is the width of your report? If it is wider than your paper (including margins) then it will force data onto a second page.
