Trying to get new Contacts entries to also show up in Address Book

D

David Viger

I just upgraded to Outlook 2007, and all my Contacts transferred to the new
Address Book, but when I add new Contacts they don't automatically end up in
the Address Book as they should. What can I do to correct that?

Outlook doesn't use an "address book" - what is CALLED "Address Book" is
merely a view of your Contacts
but when I add new Contacts they don't automatically end up in
the Address Book as they should.

Where are you entering these "contacts" and do they have an email address?

That is what is so strange. For instance I entered a new Contact in my
Contacts, an accountant, name, etc.

Later when I clicked on the "Address Book", I did a search there for that
new contact, and even scrolled through my address book which was supposed to
reflect my Contacts information and submittees, and that individual was no
where to be found in the "Address Book". It was in my Contacts, because I
went back into Contacts and it was there, but it wouldn't somehow make the
connection to the Address Book, or transfer there, or show up there, and when
I did an Address Book Search, it didn't show up there either. Really strange!

Only those contacts with an electronic address (i.e. either email or fax)
will show in the addressbook view...

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If this is grayed out...

Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or
address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add
it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close
then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.

If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to
make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to
a bug.

Diane,
I am having this problem with Outlook 2007. I tried the this from the
Outlook Help: Contacts are missing when I click the To, Cc, or Bcc buttons.
It didn't work.

You mention creating a new profile. How do I do that?

Thanks
