I have a legitimate MS XP operating system, a legitimate MS Office 2003
installed, and I'm trying to install a genuine, legitimate MS Office 2007
Ultimate. It recognizes disk 2 (and "completed" the installation of MS
Accounting Express). But, my system does not recognize disk 1. NOTHING
happens when I put the disk into the save drive within which disk 2 just
worked. NOTHING; ZIP; NADA; ZERO; ZIP ... no action/reaction AT ALL!!!
HELP!

It sounds like that legitimate disk is a dud. It happens from time to time.
I would contact the source and ask for a replacement.

i dont want to hijack the thread, but i just installed office ultimate 2007
on top of office pro 2007. I see that they are both in the add/remove
programs. Can i uninstall the office pro 2007 without any issues, such as
loosing emails and such? thank you for your help

Yes
Uninstalling a program, including Office doesnt remove data
You 'may' have to run Office diagnostics after the uninstall

thank you for the info. I was able to remove Office Pro 2007 without any
issue and the diagnostic test came out clean too.

Thanks Mr. Tyson! I also noted, after reading the fine print, that my XP
version needs to have service pack 2, which I'm sure it doesn't. I'll try
that, first, & hope that's the roadblock. Then, if that doesn't work, I'll
take it back to the source.

Thanks! I've just installed SP3 (available now), but to no avail.
"Returning" the disk will be complicated, but it looks like that's the only
thing I can do. I appreciate the help!

Actually, I just tried that, too. But, nothing showed up. AND, I checked
twice to make sure it said "DVD" on my drive; and, it does. :) Thanks!
It's always good to doublecheck the basics!
