Trying to open "MSWord has stopped working"

I get this error about every other time I try to open MS Word. I have office
2007. It is so frustrating. I see much about a similar error in closing.
Mine is always when I attempt to open the program. Can someone, anyone help
here please?

Most of the times, when Word crashes during startup, it's either a corrupt
template or a bad add-in. Try

Even though all other office 2007 applications are working fine ..... Word will not open.

I have done the Data removal in the registery and uninstalled and reinastalled word by itself and office 2007 also (which I also cleaned up the registery after the uninstall) ... rebooted between uninstalls and reinstalls ...... Still having the same problems.

Has anyone else seen this. everything that I am finding points to the Data entry in the registery, but that didn't work for me.

BTW this is the error signature that I am getting and the laptop is running win XP SP3 and Office SP2

The dll listed is the MS Visual C run time library and suggests that either
something has installed the wrong version (part of Windows not Office) or
Word cannot find a locally installed, compatible printer driver.

I was able to fix the problem by setting my default printer to a non-networked printer

This is what I fould that got me to do the switch:

issues with network printers being set as default... this was indeed my situation, so I changed my default to Microsoft Document Image Writer and VOILA! It worked perfectly.

Same for me ... nothing but MS Word shuts down. I have tried as many fixes
as I have read about and nothing works. Now I will try the printer fix
