trying to open old contact file ot import to new outlook

My contact file is from 2003 and I have no problem opening it on any other
machine. However I'm trying to import to my new vista outlook 2007 and it
says I dont have permission to open file? Any help would greatly appreciated.

Firstly, importing is never the way to transfer data from one Outlook to
another.
Copy the file to your HDD, (put it in your Documents folder is the best
bet), remove any Read-Only attribute, then in Outlook do File-Open-Outlook
Data File.

Try taking ownership of the file. (Look in Help and Support on how to do
this)

thanks so far but no dice....I followed directions to permissions but it says
I have full control. anyway to eliminate a password? I know I never set one
so this is wierd to me. thanks again

If you never put a password on it and now Outlook asks for one when you try to
open it, the process you used to transfer it has corrupted it to a degree.
There are PST password strippers available on the Internet, most for a fee.
