Trying to open Outlook - receiving 2 error msgs

I am getting the following 2 error messages:

The extension "OutlookSync" has been disabled. MAPI32.DLL is missing. This
could have been caused by installing other messaging software. Please
reinstall Outlook.

The operation failed.

I get both messages and it closes. I have not installed any
messaging software.

You can try this:
In the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<your windows account name>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook you'll see a file 'extend.dat'.
Exit outlook, delete the file, and restart outlook and see if it clears up.
