Trying to put text on first page of footer

E

Erol

Hi there,

I am trying to put text (my name) only in the first page of the footer. Is
there a way to do this?

I am using Office 2000.

Thanks in advance

Yes. Under Page Layout, select Different First Page option. Now you have the
option of inserting separate Footers for the first page of a section. By
default, the Footers are all linked. So make sure to unlink the footers by
clearing the Same As Previous button in the second page Footer and then go
back to the first page footer and add your name.

Terry, I will point out once again that the Footer is NOT linked to the
First Page Footer. Word links only like headers and footers. The First Page
Footer in a given section is linked to the First Page Footer in the previous
section, and neither of them is linked to the Footer in either section. Any
section can have up to three headers and footers, and all of them can be
linked or unlinked independently.

On the Layout tab of Page Setup, check the box for "Different first page."
You will then have a separate First Page Footer (and First Page Header) into
which you can put text that will not appear in the primary Footer (Header).

Yes. It's just a brain block. I've created sufficient templates to know that
without thinking about it... Maybe I should think about it!
