Trying to setup via network share

I have a new laptop and am trying to set up my Office 2003 Upgrade from my PC
to the laptop via sharing in the network. I am having trouble with this. Is
it possible.....and is there a step by step procedure. If I have installed
the 2003 upgrade on my pc do I need the original office application to
install on the laptop first? Thanks.

To install any office application you need the original CD or a complete set
of the files from the CD. You can't simply copy the installed folder from
one computer to another. Office, when it is installed, copies many "links"
into the operating system registry that if they are broken or not there the
software won't function.

Yes, understand. My original Office is in floppies, then the upgrade CD to
Office Prof. 2003. I cannot seem to load the floppy set up files onto the
laptop via the network. That should work shouldn't it? that's what I did a
few yrs ago for the PC.....

I did not understand your original post on this matter.

You are using the floppy disks as the upgrade qualifier to an Office 2003
install CD. Got it now! Are you sure that the Office program/s on the
floppy disks are proper qualifier for the Office 2003 upgrade CD? What
version of Office file is on the floppy disks? IIRC, the last version of
Office supplied on floppy disks was that which included Word 6 and I don't
know if that is new enough for Office 03.

I don't know if this will be possible but you can try it. Copy each floppy
to its individual folder on the network share. Copy all the folders onto
the local notebook. When the installation software is seeking the
qualifying product you may be able to direct the install program to each of
the folders in turn. If this doesn't work, copy all the files from all the
floppys into one folder and try again.

If this won't work, you may need to purchase a USB external floppy drive to
do the upgrade.

Thanks LV; I will try to copy each disk to a folder and share. I do not know
the version of the floppies, but I do know I have done this at least twice on
other computers in the past, including my PC and the floppies have allowed me
to upgrade using the 2003 upgrade CD.
